I love Charley and Reyes and of course the rest of the characters (Cookie, Uncle Bob and Dad, etc..) and the crime of the dead too. Charley is a funny and strong character but then she has to be with all the dead people giving her a hard time or hanging around her all the time asking for help. I really good series.

Okay. I love Charley but this book had me frustrated at times.
1) I get how hot Reyes is, I don't need to be reminded every single time Charley thinks of him (which is every third paragraph). I don't need to read how beautiful his eyes are with their flecks of green surrounded by thick dark lashes. Or the monumental heat of his hard body and the electricity he lets off. I got it the first time. I got it the 3rd time. I definitely had it by the 25th and s ...more

What a fun listen! Charlotte "Charley" Davidson is a private investigator who is also the Grim Reaper. The author's take of the Grim Reaper is interesting: instead of the menacing character coming up behind unsuspecting victims, this version is the portal that souls must go through when they are ready or attempting to leave this world. Again, he coworker Cookie Kowalski is back as well as Reyes Farrow, or rather, the son of Satan. This is an interesting blend of characters with a solid plot buil

Overall, I enjoyed this book but I have to admit Charley is really starting to annoy me.
I had to repeatedly remind myself that Charley was supposed to be an adult of around 30 years old. She often read like a hormonal tween/early-teen girl. Charley spends too much of the book mooning and moaning over Reyes, and getting into snits about events. I really, REALLY hate it when authors do that to otherwise solid female protagonists. I have to say, again - Who would ever think that an UF about THE Grim Reaper would make the reader laugh throughout the book? And, I believe this book made me laugh more than the first one did!
Charley is a hoot, as are most of the other characters. I did listen to the Audible version and Lorelei King is the narrator - she is great for the sarcastic, snarky MC! This series is great, I love the characters and all the messes Charley gets herself into. Also, the bumper stickers, t-shirt slogans, or ...more

I absolutely loved this book. The witty sarcasm and the stubborn main characters engage the reader from the first page. Because the chapters are short, I had to keep reading...only 10 pages in this chapter I can finish that...only 6 pages may as well keep reading. The book flows so well and kept my attention from start to finish. can't wait to start the next one.
