I found this book a little frustrating at times; some of the more fast-paced scenes were very confusing. In addition, I felt like there was such a long period of anticipation for the climax; by contrast, the actual high-point and the proceeding conclusion felt very brief.
However, the characters were extremely likeable. I also tend to enjoy how Pierce incorporates a magical fantasy world with what feels like a familiar world in our distant past.
