Just as good as the last time I read it. The ending is a bit rushed but mostly satisfactory. I love the dynamics in the Curtis family as well as in the gang. This book will always remind me of James Dean movies, because it’s got all the earmarks of the teen angst and melodrama he made famous in the 1950s.

This book was not as great as I expected. It's a classic, which is probably why I didn't like it as much,

This novel is an amazing accomplishment for a 16 year old author. Written in 1967 it is a grittier, far less romanticized, version of West Side Story. It was completely unrealistic and unbelievable. I couldn’t relate. The characters were flat. The plot was boring. Overall it seemed rushed and unpolished. I didn’t care about the characters or what happened to them.
I know this is classic and so many ppl love it but I can’t understand why. Maybe ...more

Stay gold!

This is just an amazing book. I'd heard about it for most of my life, but never read it - the fact that Hinton wrote this at 16 is mind blowing. So very well done.
