I can see why this book is such a hit with young adult readers. The time period is different, but the emotions are the same. The book was definitely relatable. I will admit that I had never read the book before, I had only seen the movie. While the movie was well done and stayed true to the story, some important things were left out, such as Ponyboy's mental reaction to the events. I shall continue to rewatch the DVD over and over again, but I am glad I finally read the book.
