It's amazing to think that this book was written by a teenager. The Greasers vs. the Socs. Juvenile delinquents vs. the privileged. Ponyboy and Johnny face difficult circumstances and make decisions that change their lives forever. I was rooting for the Greasers to come out on top. ...more

I previously read this book in high school for a novel study in ELA. I don't often do re-reads but, since I read this one so long ago, I requested the audiobook when I saw it on my library's Overdrive.

I initially read this back when I was teen or pre-teen in the 80s. I didn't much care for it then, but thought since it was a short book, I would listen to it on audio again. Unfortunately, I still wasn't too crazy about it, but I gave it 2 stars. I really couldn't relate too any of the characters, although when they talked about Ponyboy, Sodapop, Johnny, Dallas, and the others, I kept picturing Ralph Macchio, C.
