Good read, but didn't have the intensity of some of the books. At the end I felt like this book was more of a filler. Like, the books that authors have to write in order to set up major plot shifts. For example, there is the Asher situation, there is Anita deciding she would rather haver her lovers than her job, the rebellion from the vampires that want freedom, etc..

Ok, so, I loved the early Anita Blake books. I liked who Anita was as a person. I liked Richard. I liked Jean Claude. Hell, I even liked Edward/Ted. Then the books turned into pure straight up smut. I love all Anita's men, love the relationships, love the characters, love the sex. Although this book was not one of my favorites because it felt a little to short to me I still loved it. I just can't get enough, keep them

Ms. Hamilton does it once again. A perfect combination of marshal activities, relationship etiquette and of course, sex. I think she coined a new phrase - hetero-flexible - which of course means neither bi nor gay but somewhere in the middle. I thought this book returned to Anita's roots (actually being a marshal), though for some reason she is now a cop and speaking as if she has been a cop for years and years. WTF? I liked that most of the book pertained to finding and killing bad vampires. I

I'm sorry. You just can't please everyone. You all complained about not enough police work or job. And to much sex. Well this time it was very well balanced. And I liked it. ...more
