4 stars. I cannot get out of this series. Seriously, I feel like I’m gonna keep reading them until my library runs out because that seems like the only way that I’m going to stop. Send help. Or don’t, I’m perfectly content where I’m at.

I've been rereading these, and I just now noticed that Scribd has an unabridged and abridged version of these books. Guess which one I've been accidentally listening to? I kept wondering why I was going through them so fast! I'm so ticked. I've been missing out on over 4 hours of audio! 4 hours!!! A lot can happen in that time, and now I'm left wondering what in the hell I've been missing. Oh well, I made sure to get the unabridged version for the next one.

I've heard a lot of not so likable things with this series in regards to the whole romance portion and after reading this one it feels like it's just starting. I love the mystery part, I like what she does for a living, and I even like some of the paranormal politics, but I'm not too enthused with the whole love triangle BS going on. As a kick ass character, Anita rocks. Relationship wise, she acts like she has the IQ of a turnip. She keeps saying she loves Richard, but she doesn't act like it. ...more

I really like the Anita Blake series. This is one of the better books, I think. Sometimes Anita can get a little whiny and hypocritical, but this one has lots of action, a pretty thick crime story thread, and is a page-turner, IMO. Looking forward to re-reading the next book in the series.
