Told from the perspective of Brady, Eve, and Maddy, this is the compelling and honest story of Brady and Eve's life after Maddy's very unexpected suicide. **NONE OF THIS IS SPOILER MATERIAL** This book is full of honest emotions. Real feelings of a daughter and a work-a-holic father dealing with the aftermath of their mother/wife's suicide. They both thought she was happy but now they are drowning in guilt. Did they do enough for her? Did they express their love and appreciation for Maddy? They think they didn't otherwise why would she jump off of a building? While they try to cope, Maddy is in "heaven"?? trying to send messages to get them through this difficult time. Words of encouragement, letting them know that's is there. She is pushing Brady in the direction of a new woman through Eve"s thoughts about her math tutor and then through Brady when he meets her math tutor. She does this so he doesn't have to go through all of this grief alone. But I will state, as Elyse did, this is not a romance. As Eve and Brady heal, Maddy can feel herself go to "higher realms" and getting farther and farther away from her family. Does Eve, Brady, and the Reader get to know why Maddy jumped? Will Maddy's story ever come out? Read it! This is a fantastic debut! It's relatively short and an absorbing read. 5 stars!

Wow! I really enjoyed listening to I Liked My Life by debut author Abby Fabiaschi. The mother, Maddy, is a ghost...dead after an apparent suicide. She lingers to help Eve (daughter) and Rory (husband) move on in life and more specifically to help Rory find a wife to help them move ahead. It wasn't so much a typical ghost story in that Maddy instills thoughts into their minds in a way that is true to her earthly style. I loved this book! When Maddy dies her family is left wondering what happened - they didn't think she was depressed, there were no signs she was unhappy, how could she leave her husband and kid like that? As her husband, Brady, and daughter, Eve, try to come to terms with Maddy's death and find their way in a life without her, Maddy finds ways to let them know she's not completely gone.
