The Bookshop on the Corner written by Jenny Colgan and narrated by Lucy Price-Lewis was exactly the book I needed over the past couple of days. Nina loses her position as a public librarian and decides on a bold life-changing direction. She moves to a small town in Scotland, buys a used van, fills it with books, and drives around to neighboring towns selling books. There is romance in the story, but the story doesn't center around this. It is about an enterprising woman who loves books and sprea

I really really enjoyed this book in the beginning. But I didn't need the romance aspect. I connected with the main character, Nina on so many levels. And the author did a very good job of pulling me into the story right from the beginning.

Such potential! Eighty percent of this novel was charming and delightful and just the adventure I was dreaming of for this reading experience. However, it bottomed out with explicit nude and sex scenes that were wholly inappropriate and unnecessary. Those scenes spoiled this entire book for me, and they cheapened the romance too, which had, prior to that intrusion, been of the sweeping, utterly sweet variety.

A cute story about starting over and most importantly about books and the power they have. The author's message to readers at the beginning was spot on. Loved that!

Nina loves being a librarian and helping patrons find the perfect book. Sadly the library is restructuring and only some will keep their jobs. Nina figures it's time for a drastic change.
Nina buys a van, moves to Scotland, and starts a book selling business from her van. She matches people with their perfect book. She also manages to match herself with the perfect man.
Good story. Nothing much happened and I will likely forget it in a couple months. ...more

This is one of those feel good books you just race through and enjoy. This book has some deeper moments with insight into the joys of reading and the willingness to take a chance to realize your dreams. The romance was a little artificial with the requisite breakup and getting back together at the end. I liked all the characters and enjoyed finding out about some Scottish culture. Will look for more delightful reads by this author.
