Interesting story, well written. I felt just as confused as the lead character, who doesn't have a clue who he is.

But it's tough to read in places, due to the intense violence, especially knowing it's against children.

Check out my FULL Review at The Maze Runner Review

So, I really enjoyed the book at the beginning. Around halfway through it, there were some frustrations.
There were a lot of pointless things in the book.
Thomas kept saying he "just knew" he had to do things and do them a certain way. He just had these feelings, but they were never explained. I mean...in real life, gut feelings are real, but I'm pretty sure every single person ever questions those feelings. And I'm also pretty sure th

Thomas finds himself in a strange place. He is surrounded by other boys. What happened to him? No one will tell him what is going on. Newt and Alby are the leaders. They explain they are in the Glade and the boys have jobs to do so they can survive here. After a bit Thomas feels calm, but he does not know why. Then the doors close and he learns of the Maze and the killer machines in there. Thomas wants to be a Runner. Runners are the boys that are trying to find a way through the maze to get out ...more

This book was only okay. I am not in love with it and I found some parts slow, other than that it was a good concept.

A really good YA book. I don't see why someone would use cbildren for their own purpose but I have to say that these are smart kids. I can't wait to see if the movie will be as good as the book. I guess I can't expect it to be exactly as the book but as least good enough. ...more

A popular series and this book is being made into a movie. So I wanted to find out what it was all about.

Dystopian fight for survival not dissimilar to the Hunger Games which has become the standard of measure.

It doesn't stand alone. There's too many mysteries and unknowns to be discovered still.

Note: I've read the series now and do not feel that the time investment is worth the read. The final denouement falls flat as you wonder why they didn't get to that point sooner. But then there wouldn

just an o.k read.. story premise is good, but it under-delivers. No hurry to continue with this particular series, but my son said he enjoyed Dasher's newest book 'Eye of the Minds', so perhaps I'll check that one out instead and see if it's any better... ...more
