This was another excellent book by Susan Wiggs who is becoming one of my favorite authors. In this story, she takes us to Sonoma County, CA to Bella Vista, a hundred acre apple orchard. Her descriptions of the landscape are so intricate that I always feel transported to the locale. The story flows impeccably and flawlessly and many secrets from the past become revealed with some chapters taking us back to WWII Denmark. I didn't want to put this book down and loved all the characters. I can alway ...more

The plot is predictable but the historical details add something special to the story. I loved Dominic and his kids and Tess simply grew on me. I am intrigued by Isabel and look forward to reading her story.

3.5 stars. As much a story about family and belonging than romance. Tess Delaney finds treasures for families and works for an auction house. Dominic Rossi appears to tell Tess about a grandfather she's never met who is in a coma and plans to leave her half his apple farm.

If you don't believe memories are worth more than money, then perhaps you've not made the right kind of memories.

What is the point of having an object of beauty, if you have to make an appointment to see it?

4.5 Stars

Have you ever noticed that most of the special people that come into our lives are separated by six degrees? Tess Delaney will certainly attest to that fact. A television appearance that an old lady sees will altar her life and those she meets in Archangel, CA. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Tess is an antique specialist. She makes an excellent investigator since the pieces she she researches (down to the provenance) have long been separated from their rightful owner. Miss Annelise

3.5 rounded to 4 stars because of the recipe tie-ins. This is the first book in the Bella Vista trilogy, of course I started with the second. This gives more of the backstory, and introduces Isabel, Tess and Dominic. It was a fast read, and my favorite parts are the recipes that are scattered at the beginnings of several chapters. Before I return the book to the library, I want to transcribe a few, including Grape and Rosemary Focaccia, Baked Hot Chocolate, and Rustic Tomato Sauce without any Bi ...more
