I'm not sure I can put my finger on exactly why this book didn't appeal to me. I liked the sleuth, Becca, as well as Ian and Officer O'Brion (Sam). The mystery started with the death in the first 3 pages and gave a good amount of clues. The setting didn't do much for me. The book takes place in rural South Carolina, but nothing about the book seemed southern to me. I guess I expect quirkier/better/funnier characters in southern writing. #1 A Farmers' Market Mystery series. This was a fun cozy mystery, with some great characters. I liked the setting of a busy farmers' market, with a close knit community of regular vendors. Main character Becca, who grows fruit and sells preserves, gets involved in the investigation because a friend and mentor claims he is being framed for the murder of a fellow vendor.
