Blah. What can I say? It's Nicholas Sparks. You read one you've read them all. They all have that same feel to them. I can't really explain it. It's not that he is a bad writer. Quite the contrary. It's just that his stuff puts me in this sort of coma while I read and I just feel bllaaaahhhh through the entire book. I'm neither sucked into the story or bored to tears. I just feel nothing.

Two love stories converge on a snowy mountainside. Ira Levinson, age 90+, recalls the love he and his wife, Ruth had over their courtship and marriage, from the Great Depression to the present. In current time, Sophia, a senior at Wake Forest University studying art history, is getting over a broken heart when she meets local rancher and bull-rider, Luke Collins. Sappy, sweet, and totally wonderful! This is actually two romances in one. First we meet Ira, a 91-year-old man who has been in a car accident and is reliving his life as he sits there waiting for rescue. He has had a long and happy life with his wife Ruth and reminisces. Little by little, we get to know him and discover what an interesting life he has led. At the same time, we follow the budding romance of Luke and Sophia. They are an unlikely couple since Luke is a bull-rider, living on his fa

4.5 stars on this story of two separate, but eventually intertwined love stories. One is a lifelong love between Ira and Ruth; the other is a new love between Sophia and Luke.
Told from the alternating perspectives of 91-year-old Ira, college student Sophia, and rancher Luke, the story also mixes 20th century art with the realities of competitive bull riding, and it works. It may sound like an unlikely combination, yet the author pulls it off.

I loved this story. Period. Its the kind of story that Nicholas Sparks use to write. Don't get me wrong, I read and love every novel of his but this was of the same caliber as The Notebook, A Walk to Remember and Nights in Rodanthe. I was hooked by the second page and just wanted to devour the story. I actually had to stop myself a few times from reading too fast as I wanted to savoir each moment.

Finally there was a Nicholas sparks book that didn't have me running for the tissues. I loved both stories in the book but I personally wasn't a huge fan of how it ended. I still thought it was a great book and I can't wait to check out the movie. tho from all my past experiences the book is almost always better ;)
