Nice but not great. I liked Jack more than Mel, even thought he was too good to be real. The story was lacking in relationship - buildnig.

Loved this book! Oh, the tears!! Happy tears ... sad tears ... sometimes I didn't even know I was crying til' the tears splashed on the Kindle. What a beautifully written story about starting over and beginning a new chapter in our lives. I will definitely continue with this series and can't wait to jump into the next one. ...more

I actually read this years ago, but I forgot what actually happened after so much time has passed. I want to say that I thought of this as a 5 star read at that time, but that could just speculation since I didn't remember a thing that happened. I jut knew that I wanted to read the rest of the books in the series, but never got around to it. Now I hope to rectify that.

Mel has been through a tragic ordeal. She wants to go to a place where no one knows what happened and where no one looks upon he

It was a nice small town story. The book seemed a bit longer than needed, but then I also would have liked a bit more at the end. I did really like Doc and Preacher and Ricky. Jack was really too perfect to Mel (not so much to some others) and Mel seemed to settle into small town country life a bit too easily, but otherwise I liked them.

This is my first and last book in the series and by this author. The characters act stupidly. I would classify this book as trashy. I downloaded this book because I watched season 1 on Netflix and everyone knows the book is better than the movie. Not in this case. The characters on the Netflix series are much more interesting and colorful. The Netflix series has a better storyline. This book has very graphic sex scenes and one thread included a 14 year old. It’s a waste of time. Nothing creative ...more

2.5/5.0 - I wanted to like this, I enjoyed the Netflix series, but this fell short for me. Jack was much more likeable in the series, here he's a bit of a "I have needs" guy. Mel comes off as needy and snobbish. And hey, Doc? Old and fat? Give me Netflix on this one, folks. (To be fair, the second half of the book is much better, which is why I finished it.)

This was a good book...I loved the character of Jack...and mostly I loved Mel, though at times I was annoyed with her.
I love the setting...the wild country of Virgin River...very small town. Cozy cabins. I'm excited to continue on to meet other inhabitants.

Jack's use of the word "baby" was a touch nerve-scraping. But that's probably just me.
