I am glad I finally got to start this series, I have been meaning to for a while now.
Unfortunately, I really didn't like the narrator in the audiobook version so it started off on the wrong foot. Even my husband said something and really he doesn't usually pay attention to when I am reading. XD
The story was decent but I have a feeling the series will get a lot better. It was kind of like watching the pilot of a new show.

A little too bloody and too masculine energy for me.

I really enjoyed this book. The writing was solid, with good balance: Child gives enough detail to make the people and settings feel real but not so many that the story is bogged down; similarly, he fleshes out Reacher as a character, where the reader gets to have an understanding of Reacher's thoughts and feelings but without a morass of mulling.
