What Members Thought

It took a decade but I'm finally able to appreciate this better. Given the level of insight, I still can't get over the fact that it was published in 1932. Amazing and, surprisingly philosophical writing.
The middle part is a bit slow, but other than that, quite thought provoking.

Recently I have been on a dystopian kick ending here.
I really enjoyed this novel. It was much easier to see why the people allowed themselves to be controlled as such as compared to 1984. Throughout the beginning I couldn't help but think, "hey this doesn't sound THAT bad". It was until it was pointed out that reading was considered a solitary activity and was therefore banned that I realized what a terrifying future this would be. As bad as 1984? No! As terrifying as The Handmaid's Tale? NEVER ...more
