Oh my, how did I miss this classic for so many years?!? *happy sigh* One of the best "coming of age" stories I've ever read, and despite everything one of the happiest and most inspiring. Francie's father who despite his flaws loves her so much, her mother and sisters (especialyl Sissy) with so much strength, and of course Francie herself, growing up dirt-poor in Brooklyn and despite that never losing her pride or her dignity. Five stars don't seem to be enough. ...more
