How does one “rate” one of the best known of all classics in the Western canon? First, there is the poem itself, accessible to me only through translation. So, second is the translation itself.

If I could I would give six stars to Emily Wilson’s beautifully rendered translation, as well as her thorough annotation that provides context and deeper meaning than I could have gleaned from reading alone, plus thoughtful (and, at times, even humorous) commentary.
