I love Oscar Wilde's writing, even with such a strange concept as this book. Perfectly beautiful Dorian Gray doesn't age or show physical signs of his poor life choices; instead, the secrets of his innerself manifest on the face of his infamous picture. That's the basic premise, but The Picture of Dorian Gray also contains a lot of philosophical ramblings from a secondary character. That took away from the book a bit, in my opinion. ...more

This was a wonderful read. I will admit that I struggled with some of the sexist and antisemitic comments within. Nevertheless, the story of Dorian Gray was intriguing and I really enjoyed wondering over the effects of having such a portrait.
