What Members Thought
Many reviewers talk about the relationship between Nell and Sula - and certainly it’s the core of the story, but what I really loved about this was that it’s a portrait of a community, specific in time and location and race. I listened to the author read the audiobook and it was really restful - both her style of narration and the prose.
I enjoyed the story. I enjoyed seeing how the characters gained an understanding of their lives, and the lives of the people around them. It was a sad story in many ways, but also one of great understanding.
