This play was whimsical, fun and a bit magical, complete with fairies and all. It made me chuckle at times; I got a kick out of the fairy queen, Titania, falling head-over-heels in love with Bottom after he was transformed to a ludicrous creature with the head of an ass. The play was not hard to digest, aside from the language of course. I adore this play! Filled with sweet love and fairy mischief, I never get tired of reading it or watching it performed.
I still have such a fondness for the 1999 movie version which gets the look of this enchanting tale completely right and I find myself falling a little bit more in love with Rupert Everett’s Oberon every time I see him!
