What Members Thought
So disappointed! I think my expectations were too high. Many people had recommended it highly. I thought it read more like a fairytale than a deep spiritual journey.
Beautifully constructed and profound. There were also some very touching parts. A wonderful meditation on life.
I've delightfully read this twice and it was better the second time!
It's easy on the eyes and doesn't require a lot of investment, I recommend trying it - a very high ROI. ...more

classic. brilliant what more can i say?
3.5 stars. I loved the overall message and thought it had important things to say, but it just didn’t feel enough like a novel for me to enjoy it fully. Much of the interesting plots points were glossed over or skipped entirely in favor of summarizing something the main character had learned. If Hesse had included a more thorough narrative alongside the life lessons this probably would have been a 4- or 5-star review. I get that probably wasn’t his intention with the book, but still. 🤷🏻♂️
