I'm trying to decide if I would have loved this book as a kid or been bored to tears. I actually remember looking at this one disdainfully and putting it back on the shelf, so it could have happened, but somehow never did.
On one had it's a "girls' book" and has little action to counteract that...
On the other hand, it's quite funny - and I did manage to mostly enjoy a couple other "girls' books" when I was younger.
I guess it's a moot point now. I did enjoy it, though. Better late than never? ...more

I wish that I had read this when I was younger, My younger self would have adored it. I absolutely loved it now. Anne is just an amazingly well drawn character. Mathew and Marilla were equally captivating. I wept a couple of times in the last few chapters. A beautifully, special book. I bought a box set for my daughter a few years ago but I am now going to ask her nicely if I can read the lot!
