Finally finished! I think my problem with this one is that the narrative gets bogged down in the technical jargon -- scientific names, degrees longitude and latitude, etc. I feel like I might have more enjoyed an abridged children's version. 😐 ...more

I read everything by Jules Verne when I was young, 10 and so. I was already then seduced by the amount of information... he can really drop information, huge amounts, in the middle of the story, without it taking anything away from it, on the contrary.

I loved this book. My only draw back was the zoology and the geography lessons that went on for pages. I found it distracting.
