I remember reading this in 1996. I was on an airplane in the 1st class section reading this book and flying home to upstate NY when Richard Gere sat next to me. I remember him and I remember I was reading this book - both were equally wonderful!! ;)

First part finished 14 August 2022, ***

Amusing but tiring, not least because this edition is a heavy and cumbersome book with small print, which does not make for relaxed reading. Plus I've heard that the second part is not as good as the first part, so I'm putting this on my "I've started so I'll finish" shelf for now.

Text updates in the spoiler tag, just in case.
