Such lovely prose for a story with no plot. And steam of consciousness gets old very quickly.

This is the first time I have read Virginia Woolf and the first time I've encountered anything like it.
I admit that I'm still rather new at this literary thing, nevertheless, Mrs. Dalloway is not your typical narrative. As a pioneer of modernism, Woolf's style focuses on the internal thoughts of her characters rather than the external surroundings and plot. As soon as I was able to grasp this, Mrs. Dalloway became a fresh and mentally stimulating experience for me.

I enjoyed reading this (for the second time). What elegant sleight-of-hand perspective changes/connections Woolf achieved here. Some reviewer likened this to a tapestry, all different characters and their lives and the London streets woven together; or maybe they describe the body of work as more like that -- a breathing organism, comprised of many people and a city.
