"What does the brain matter,” said Lady Rosseter, getting up, “compared with the heart?”
Mrs. Dalloway ~~~ Virginia Woolf

I didn't realize this until the final page, but at its heart, MRS. DALLOWAY is a love story. I absolutely loved this book.

Mrs. Dalloway is a complex, compelling novel. It is wrongly described as a portrait of a day in the life of Clarissa Dalloway; this is not correct. Mrs. Dalloway is the hub that connects the spokes, the characters of Woolf's novel, but there is no main ...more

OK. How to begin? I read all of these beautifully written reviews praising Mrs. Dalloway and I end up feeling like I let the book down, not the other way around. There were some passages that I thoroughly enjoyed; even so, I was left underwhelmed by the end. This is not a book to sink into, like you would a warm bath. In the end, you really do feel like you are taking an empathic trip through Mrs. Dalloway's life. I also like the characters animosity between the religious servant and high society Mrs. Dalloway. I think it may serve as a social commentary between the the liberal elite and the religious right of today

Does the word BORING mean anything? Clarissa wants to throw a party to help her feel important and all day we switch from character to character and hear their thoughts on what? After reading it, I still can't really say. Suicide, snobbery, jealousy are all here somewhere, but her style of writing doesn't let you know who is thinking it or why. This is a very tedious book.
