Whew! It's been a while since I've read a classic and I forgot how much I love the writing from the late 19th century. I loved all the descriptions and the vocabulary words would make an SAT tutor happy! Not overly creepy, but just enough in the description of Mr. Hyde and the London neighborhoods that he haunted to make it a perfect read during this Halloween. I actually chose it because my son has to read it for his 10th grade English class. I don't think he's liking it as much as I did though ...more

There are two stories in this book, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and The Bottle Imp.

J/H was a little disappointing. I think it has aged a lot, and, though it is scary, it's also kinda boring. Or, I thought the big revalation, explanation, whatever was a little bit too easy. Ok, but not amazing. 2,5 stars, even though it gives me pain, as it is such a classic.
