Dracula's Mina Harker in a contemporary setting: San Francisco, CA. A cult classic and title often referenced in context of the "new narrative," Bellamy's narrator is herself...but not herself...in order to "find herself."
Not an easy read, per se, both worth it: some of the lines in here are so gorgeous, they linger in one's memory as ghosts, haunting with desires, emotions of the people we are as well as those we wish we could be...or former versions of ourselves we have been.
