First, I will admit to a love of Julia Quinn's books. Her world of Bridgertons and Smythe-Smiths is a delightful one.
I enjoyed this book very much. I started with trepidation because I had read a review (note to self: Stop doing that BEFORE you read.)that mentioned the unlikeability of both the heroine and hero. That reviewer was wrong. Sarah and Hugh are not unlikable, they are just two prickly characters who need to smooth out a little, which they do over the course of the book.

This is the most disappointing Julia Quinn novel I've read. I had a hard time getting into the story, her trademark humour and clever dialogue were missing, and the plot was borderline absurd. I once complimented Mary Balogh for one of her novels "because no one was kidnapped, thrown from a horse, endangered at sea, caught in a compromising situation, challenged to a duel or took on another person's identity as a plot device". Normally, I feel the same way about Julia Quinn. For me, the heart of

It should go without saying that I absolutely adore Julia Quinn and what should also be known is that I've been a shipper of the Smythe-Smith's since the Bridgerton's and literally jumped up and down (yes I really did) with joy when I learned that Mrs. Quinn had decided to tell their stories.
This is the third book in her Smythe-Smith series and I'm not satisfied...I want more books!! Mainly I want Harriet's story...she is pretty much awesome x infinity!!

Enemies to lovers is not a trope that I am particularly fond of, but Quinn makes it work well here. Sarah and Hugh do spend a lot of time together, and in addition to the banter at which Quinn excels, the emotional intensity between the two of them develops gradually. Their falling in love is based on more than wit and lust. Neither of these protagonists has the charm that often makes Quinn’s characters memorable, but they have their own strengths. Hugh had a truly horrific childhood, and I had

The romance in this novel is fantastically written. Quinn journeys from hate to love in the span of 380 pages and each page is riddled with hilarious and loving moments. The small twist at the end is sure to get a kick out of readers and pick up the speed with its intense action and suspense.

I love Julia Quinn books. Really. And I enjoyed this one. However, It seems that authors have started to do this concurrent overlapping story thing. I don't like it because it all seems too familiar. Like I've already read the book. While I appreciate how everyone in Quinn's universe all fit together and that there are reoccurring characters that join everything together, I really had to double check that I hadn't read this one yet.
