About 100 pages into this book, I was so ready to give up. Absolutely NOTHING had happened between Pippa and Cross and I was just getting annoyed. I'm so happy, though, that I didn't give up on this one because I was in love with the story by the end.

2019 Audio update:I didn't quite enjoy the audio version of this book as much as I enjoyed reading it on kindle a few years ago. I'm not sure if that was because I was listening on audio, something that can take me out of a story enough to harm my enjoyment of it, or if it was just that I am older and my reading tastes have changed a bit. I still did enjoy this story, but the unrealistic nature of it struck me more this time around. It seems weird to complain about realism when reading a regency

Sarah MacLean, I don't know how you will transcend such a masterpiece.
This was truly your best work yet. I couldn't get enough. I'm tempted to start it all over again.
Bluestocking Pippa Marbury is set to be married in a fortnight to a man that is... lacking to say the least. As a woman of logic, she is determined to quell her doubts of the unknown by conducting some research with a rather appropriate research partner.

Just a wonderful book. LOVED the characters, especially Pippa. I love it when you really cannot figure out how the H/h will find their way to be together. It was fun to see how it worked out even though I thought the ending was a little dragged out. Sarah Maclean really knows how to create an engaging story!

The second in the incredible new Rules of Scoundrels series from New York Times bestselling author Sarah MacLean.
Lady Philippa Marbury is odd. The bespectacled, brilliant fourth daughter of the Marquess of Needham and Dolby cares more for books than balls, flora than fashion and science than the season. Nearly engaged to Lord Castleton, Pippa wants to explore the scandalous parts of London she's never seen before marriage. And she knows just who to ask: the tall, charming, quick-witted bookkeep

I absolutely loved this story. Even though the "unusual" heroine may be overused at times, her discovery of herself was beautiful and fun. I really had no idea of how everything would be resolved; suffice it to say I cheered at the end and appreciated the author's note at the end all the more. I can't wait for the next book!! (Hurry hurry, August!)

Sarah MacLean is one of my favorite authors. For me, this story started a little slow but about quickly became the type of novel I expect from Ms. MacLean. In the end, it's earned a place on my keeper shelf.
