Lame. He falls for The bespectacled heroine like crazy very quickly after being celibate for 6 years. No idea why. She falls for him after propositioning him. Just like that. So lame.

This was a wonderful read. Cross is a partner in the Fallen Angels gaming hell and has serious issues stemming from his brother's death 6 years ago. He feels responsible for his brother being in the carriage when it crashed which also seriously injured his sister. Cross was the 'spare' and his parents would not even look at him after the accident since it was supposed to have been him in that carriage. He had refused to accompany his sister to Almack's after he had promised. His parents kept ins ...more

The story was cute but the main female Pip would just about drive me crazy if I had to read/listen to her much more.
It is a good thing there was a man who could fall in love with her cause I pretty much wanted to punch her most of the book.

Simply amazing!

April 2015 addition:

Pippa and Cross are two of my all-time favorite characters. Pippa, with her glasses and oh-so-scientific brain, is determined to learn about passion & seduction before marriage. Her choice for tutor: Cross, a man who is her intellectual equal and possesses a past that torments him. My advice: Just grab on tight to your book and hold on for the roller coaster ride of emotions in this story.

I want to add caveats to this review, but the truth is that I love this book. Sure, there are a couple of corny bits, but I love them too. I worry that Sarah MacLean has ruined me for other romance novelists. Possibly my favorite aspect of this book is that although it takes half the book or so for any semblance of the couple getting together, all those pages and that wait are lovely.

My feelings exactly, Rapunzel! This book was really good. It's a page turner and will keep you wanting more. Miss MacLean writes her steamy scenes that feel like a nice, warm bubble bath! :)

On a side note, who else thought that Castleton was the sweetest man?

I enjoyed this book more than the first in the series, but grew annoyed yet again by the long long road to happiness. I may not be able to read the nest in the series if this is how they always progress.
