The friends-to-lovers trope is one of my favourites in the genre, and one of my favourite examples of it is Julia Quinn’s Romancing Mister Bridgerton, the fourth book in her iconic series about the eight Bridgerton siblings.

I feel as though I read a different book to the rest of the reviewers. 'Romancing Mr Bridgerton' started out well enough with Penelope having been in love with Colin for years, but never getting past good friend status, but it never delivered on the early promise. As Colin gradually comes to realise he loves Penelope (in the first third of the book), they kiss and each likes the other but minor problems are strewn in their path - the tension dissipates and I was left...well frankly, bored.
