Penelope Featherington has been overlooked her entire life. She’s been told that she’s not pretty enough, too plump, too nervous and too quiet. And yet, Penelope probably has the most personality out of all her heroines in this series. Penelope is hands down my favourite heroine! I love seeing her growth as a character in the previous ones leading up to her own book, Romancing Mr Bridgerton with her long-time crush, Colin.

This book is my least favorite of the Bridgerton Series. Books #1, #2, and #3 were so fantastic, I KNOW I will re-read them. Each one was better than the previous. The plot, dialogue, and depth of each characters in those books are really beyond remarkable.
In Romancing Mister Bridgerton (Book #4) however, the primary focus of the book was on the unmasking of Lady Whistledown. The focus wasn't on the romance between the characters, and the romance that did exist fell flat.

What a terrific, touching story. Colin Bridgerton, the third son, returns from another of his lengthy trips. He becomes reacquainted with Penelope Featherington who he has known for many years and never gave much thought. She was his sister Eloise's best friend and now a confirmed spinster. Penelope has been in love with Colin for what seems like her whole life. This is their love story. And it's oh so sweet. Can't give away too much because there are several surprises in this book, one of them

From the moment Colin Bridgerton first charmed, I was hooked. To be honest, I read two books between that first one and this one just to end up here. I feel strange saying that I wish there was a longer book about Colin. And Penelope. I love Penelope too. I've been waiting for her book too and I could have done with a longer book all about Penelope too. So, this book was like a drug. And I am certain that I'm in love with Colin Bridgerton. He is my fictional true love.

As usual, I loved this story. I am starting to think Julia Quinn can not write a bad story! This one has been hinted to in the previous stories and is about Penelope and Colin. It's a pretty standard plot, Colin comes back from being away an suddenly sees Penelope as a woman not as a neighbor and childhood friend. But there are aspects that make this an original an a great read. Definitely fits in with the others in the series! LOVE IT.
