A absolutely wonderful installment in the Duke's Men series of books by Sabrina Jeffries. I must say Tristan has been my favorite out of the group so far. He has always been the one to take it upon himself to take care of everyone else while isolating himself off. If he didn't open himself up for love he would never be hurt, but for one who loves the people in his life so dearly it was just a matter of the right woman to help him find his way.

Tristan has much unfinished business in his past. Avoiding his aristocratic brother George to prevent any more inquiries into the horse theft during his youth, Tristan only recently has been able to re-enter England. He has a long held disdain for English aristocracy after dealing with George's cruelty and his father's neglect. He spends his time solving cases with the Duke's Men, an investigative firm that Tristan and his half brother Dom manage. When he hears a client's case involves interviewing gypsies, he is eager to assist to pursue his own answers regarding a long lost gypsy information that might have information on George. In order to take the case, he's forced to work closely with a fiery aristocratic princess that makes his blood boil. When she challenges him at every turn, he tries to teach her a lesson with a kiss... and ends up learning a whole lot in return.

Born on the wrong side of the tracks, Tristan knows he would be no good for Zoe, but he can't seem to stay away from her. With her father trying to marry her off to her cousin, Tristan knows he should let her go so she'd have a chance at a better future. When she defies his orders and insists on placing herself in danger to find answers to her past, Tristan is overcome with a fierce need to protect her. As more people learn about their secrets during the investigation, the risk to both Tristan and Zoe increases. Will their pasts catch up to them or will they be able to brave this storm together?

Corrie James does a good job with the narration. She speaks clearly and is easy to understand. It took me a bit to get used to her dialogue voices for the characters, but once I did the story flowed more smoothly. The narrative part of the book was well done.

The plot of How the Scoundrel Seduces is exceptionally well written, with twists and turns that will keep the reader enthralled. The dialogue is laugh out loud funny with a host of exciting characters. Zoe's American cousin was a favorite in this novel and the verbal banter between Zoe, Tristan, and Jeremy was rich and comical. I loved the additional glimpses into the past and Tristan and George's childhood as well as the foreshadowing into Dom's romance with Jane. This novel is outstanding!

I definitely enjoyed this Sabrina Jeffries novel and would recommend this book (and all of her others!) to any readers who enjoy historical romance. ...more

I have read all of Sabrina's books. This is the third book in the Duke's Men series. It seems like I was waiting forever for this book. I really enjoyed this book. Zoe hires Manton Investigations to find a women who has the secret to her origins. Tristan reluctantly takes the case because he has his own reasons for accepting this assignment.

This story has romance, mystery, suspense, great dialouge, and some great secondary stories that we can only hope will turn into other books in this series.

I complain about Jeffries and her ridiculous family scenarios (where the father has an affair with the mother's sister, etc., and yet time after time, I go back to her books. Her storylines (minus the Jerry Springer-style family subplots) are frequently interesting, and her characters sort of worm their way into your heart (I'm looking at you, Jackson Pinter).

What really works for this book is that she takes what is the weakest and overdone aspect of her novels and turns it on its head. The res ...more

I really enjoyed this book. I found it a bit difficult to get into, but once it started to pick up I couldn't put it down. What I really love about her books is that you really love her characters. She creates dynamic and interesting characters that you love. She is also good at writing the funny banter and interactions between characters that are charming and funny.
