Alright so after waiting months, I finally had a chance to read it and I have to say as much as I enjoyed it I still felt like the story last some.

I felt like the author did a great job of teasing the reader. There are some parts in the book where I felt like I was finally going to learn more about Mac and about Barron and instead it was like it was just a big tease. It kept me in the story and I pretty much enjoyed reading every single bit of it till I got to the end.

This is the fifth and supposedly last installment of the fever series by Karen Marie Moning. The series follows Mackayla (Mac) Lane that has come to Dublin to find her sister’s killer. While searching for answers she discovers that she is a sidhe-seer, a person that can see the fae for what they really are despite the glamor they put forth.
This installment of the series picks up where Dreamfever left off. She is on a cliff somewhere in the silvers, where she just stabbed the beast that had been protecting her, so that Ryodan could take her back to Dublin. Ryodan has fallen off the cliff, to his death, and the beast has transformed into a human. It breaks her heart to see that she has killed her one true protector—Jericho Barrons.

After mourning over him and after she’s convinced he is truly dead she devises a plan to bring him back. She must find the evil book everyone has been hunting, the Sinsar Dubh. With it, she can build her own world and make it to where Jericho’s death never happened—he could be resurrected!

But before she can get the evil book, she must discover how to control it. She decides to take up with the enemy, Darroc, the one person she suspects of killing her sister. When she feels she has earned his trust and is getting close to what she wants, the unexpected happens. He is killed by the Sinsar Dubh itself. Then she is dragged back to the one place she doesn’t want to be. Barrons’ bookstore, by a huge beast, for reasons unknown to her.

She discovers that the beast is Barrons and that death for him is nothing more than a nap. He will always come back and he does again and again. Something she is thankful for, now that she’s realized that he is the one thing that she can’t live without.
The entire time that she has known Barrons, she has been focused on discovering what he is and now recent events are forcing her to wonder what she is instead. Could she be something worse them him? Could she be the worst thing walking on the streets of Dublin??
Barrons is the only thing keeping his men from killing her but they make it clear to her that if given the chance, they will take her out. Then there is the fae prince, V’lane, still vying for her affections but does he have an ulterior motive?

To save this world and all of her loved ones, Mac must find out how to control the evil book and put it back in the prison it escaped from. But there are three prophecies that tell how it must be done, and she must decide which is right and who she can trust. Mac finds a tarot card that might have all the answers she needs if she can only decipher what it means. How will she ever know what the right choices are in all of this? She must discern what she is and who the Unseelie King is before it’s too late. She is also still looking for the answer to the question that brought her to Dublin to start with, who her sister’s killer is!
What can I say about his book but WOW? This book was absolutely amazing and is by far the prime jewel of the series! Before I even opened it, it was enchanting me. The hardcover edition is beautiful and the pictures of it, just doesn’t do it justice! The cover of the book has Mac printed on it with wing tattoos on her back and then the book jacket has a clear band where you can see the wings through it—gorgeous!! Then we get into the story itself. Don’t be discouraged by the size of this book. I often wonder when starting a large book, how much down time there will be building up to the climax. That is not something you need to worry about with this book. There were a few confusing parts at the beginning that I had to take my time on and absorb what was happening but after that the book flew. From the moment that Mac takes up with Darroc, there is never a dull moment! There are so many twists and turns and it keeps you wondering what will happen next and what the outcome will be. The commentary of the characters is hilarious at times. I found myself thinking of things they said when I wasn’t even reading the book. This book is chock full of suspense, action, mystery, intrigue, sex and even some romance thrown in for good measure. Karen Marie Moning has really upped her game with this gem and I never wanted to put it down….and still don’t even though I’ve finished it!! I just can not rave about it enough!! This is the most exciting book I’ve ever read. If I hadn’t read this whole series, this book would have made me want to!!

There are rumors that she is creating a spin-off series of this and I personally can’t wait to read it!

The monster that came to her when she called the number Barrons gave her IYD (If Your Dying), and at the time she thought she was going to be dying but turns out, she didn’t need to have called, but the end result was her ‘Guardian’ dying and her finding out that it was Barrons and she had just killed him.

We have followed Mac’s journey from her finding out about her sister Alina’s death, to her meeting Barrons, the Lord Master, learning he was her sisters lover, her learning to fight and kill, of eating Unseelie flesh and what it did to her, finding OOP (Objects of Power), turning Pri-ya, Barrons bringing her back, learning that there were nine like him in all, and more.

In this novel we take the last leg of Mac’s journey (So Far) with the Sinsar Dubh, the book of evil knowledge from the Unseelie King. A book that Mac has been hunting but now is hunting her and trying to use her loved ones to hurt her.

We follow Mac through her grief of Barrons death, her trying to gain the book though the Lord Master, and the knowledge that she will either save the world or destroy it for all.

I loved this book as with the last one, I was very sad and anxious when Barrons died, I knew he was coming back (my sisters read the book) I just did not know how or anything) so the anticipation worked me through what I have to admit was some slightly frustrating parts for me.

I understand that Mac had to work through her grief and then feelings for Barrons but still I can not help that I was shouting the equivalent of ‘just tell him already and do it!’ in my head most of the time. Really not my fault, I can’t help wanting more Barrons in the book. . .

Like in the last novel where we got some of Dani’s point-of-view we also get some of hers in this novel too, as well as ‘The Dani Daily’ which is a rag that Dani is publishing telling about things going on AWC (After the Wall Crash). Very neat, this lets us still be in Mac’s POV but get some of Dani’s POV while not actually switching POV’s.

Now, no more details because this plot is way to complex for my ‘explaining while not giving too much away’ abilities. We have a lot of Mac going maybe this and no not that and yes it is that to put it simply, a whole lot of shocking revelations are thrown at Mac in this novel as well ones that I’m not sure she could deal with and some that did really get all the way explored so I am hoping for another book (who isn’t?).

I would recommend this novel to anyone the series as well but as before, I would recommend picking up the previous books in the series first as though you might be able to start from any book in the series, the author does give us a good bit of last book(s) info, to get the over all experience and understanding of what is going on you need to start from the beginning. ...more

We finally get the conclusion to the Fever series. The author does not disappoint when it comes to this finale. The plot continues to give us so many twist and turns. Just when it seems you think you know, you get the rug pulled from right under your feet. Many thing keep getting unraveled and binded again and again. This was my only issue with the book, I felt it was all thrown in this last book everything we have been waiting to find out. My sister in law describe it perfectly with me yesterda We finally get the conclusion to the Fever series. The author does not disappoint when it comes to this finale. The plot continues to give us so many twist and turns. Just when it seems you think you know, you get the rug pulled from right under your feet. Many thing keep getting unraveled and binded again and again. This was my only issue with the book, I felt it was all thrown in this last book everything we have been waiting to find out. My sister in law describe it perfectly with me yesterday on the phone, we both read it at the same time. She said "This 5th book is just like a Spanish soap opera, the last day of the show is when they cram everything into 1 hour." I completely agreed with her, that was exactly how it felt while I read the book. I still think the way the author write is excellent, I really can't name tomany that give you what she gives you in her words. The suspense, emotions, intrigue, and passion is well balanced. The book finally does answer all that has been going on, but don't you think you have it figured out until you read the last couple of pages. The character development through out the series until this final chapter is great, I really enjoyed how each character stayed true to themselves and grew. What is the best part of reading these books, I will have to say its the emotion you feel from each character the way the author writes it.

I will try and talk about the plat and characters a bit without spoilers, which will be hard of course. MacKayla has grown to be such a strong indepent woman in a matter of month since she moved to Dublin. I think MacKayla and Katniss from The Hunger Games are my favorite females in books for the strength and fight in them. Mac discovers Barrons secret and well everything begins to unravel there. We learn of new secrets and new deceptions. We also know certain people are not who they are or think they are. They are still on the hunt for the Sinsar Dhu or at least we think they are or is it chasing them.

If you do decided to read this series, make sure you either buy the whole series or have a way buy the book instantly. The cliffhangers are intense and you want to be able to have the next one in line so you don't yank your hair out. This series is not, I repeat not for the YA audience.

This is my second attempt at reading an adult novel and I was not let down. After trying Blackdagger Brotherhood a few years ago, I went into hiding from all adult novels. I have heard great things about Fever series but could not get over my fear of adult genre till a month ago. I spent the whole month April reading this series. can't say enough about this author. The story was so complex and the twist and turns; How the characters had to grow up fast and work together as a team. For Mac who was truely "Rainbow Girl" by the end was tough as nails, no holds bar you go girl. Mac and jericho my two favorite they were stunning and their inner dialog was halrious. Never would have suspected the ending with V'lane. Don't want to give it away sorry guys going to have to read it. Way to go Miss. Moning Fantasic series and Even ...more
