I was hooked to this book more so than I was Hush Hush. I'm not really sure what it was. The book just came together better for me and I was more invested in the story. I loved Patch's and Nora's chemistry in the begining, it felt electric. When things started to fall apart and Nora started to throw accusations, it brought me back to a time and place in my own teens and how I led with my emotions. I'm not sure why, but, I could not get into this book at all...It sisn't draw me in like "Hush, Hush" did from page one...IDK...I will try to come back to this book at a later date or maybe just listen to the audio book for it...Just not feeling it right now...(sighes)

Ok,so I came back to this book last night on a whim...I had been out most of the evening and when I came home, I had one more load of laundry to I'm not sure why, but, I could not get into this book at all...It sisn't draw me in like "Hush, Hush" did from page one...IDK...I will try to come back to this book at a later date or maybe just listen to the audio book for it...Just not feeling it right now...(sighes)

UPDATE 12/4/10 ****SPOILER ALERT*** SOME CONTENT FROM THE PLOT AND CHARACTERS REVEALED

Ok,so I came back to this book last night on a whim...I had been out most of the evening and when I came home, I had one more load of laundry to finish so I figured I could read a little bit more of this book after almost a month of putting this down and see if my perspective about it would change...And boy am I so glad I did....I started from where I had left off which was pg.23 and that was at 11 pm last night...I finished the book by 2 am and I am not usually a fast reader at all if you follow my status reports and progress reading...I was about to pass out..lol..But, I had to finish it...There was no way I was waiting until the next day to continue it...

And it was so frustratingly, nerve-rackingly awesome:)(...I mean I loved the whole concept of the nephilim and fallen angels from the first book "Hush, Hush," I'm into studying angels, guardian angels and all of that good stuff so anything that's a good story involving angels I've gotta read it...As I said in my previous update I wasn't feeling it when I started it, but, it was really so awesome...

Patch really pissed me off through out the entire book...I mean I understood where he was coming from in the beginning when he said he couldn't allow himself to fall in love with Nora because he was her appointed guardian angel and to some extent I respected that, but, once that damn Marcie (that's a whole other review just about her) came into the picture again and he was fooling around with her, etc...I was throughly pissed off, I MEAN WHAT IS THIS...PATCH SLEEPS WITH EVERY SUBJECT HE'S SUPPOSED TO PROTECT?....Especially after Nora had told him that she loved him...wth? Pissed me off royally...

I like that the author delved further into the backstory of what happened to Nora's father and how he was killed, and also finding out so many more surprises about Nora's mom and "the black hand," etc... Rixon being the killer:o Crazy!!! I was reading feverishly to getto the end and find out if Patch and Nora were going to stay apart or what...I mean really is this supposedly piss me off like romeo and juliet or something? Ahhhh...then by the end Ptach comes around and it seems like there throwing caution to the wind and going for it 100% finally and my heart melted when he told he finally that he loved her...I was like OMG he said it screaming like an idiot at 2 am. Until, I read the very last sentence and they took him away...I was completely done...The ending throughly pissed me off...What an awful cliff hanger to leave us with until the next installment..I can't remember if this is meant to be a trilogy or just a series that continues as long as the author feels that it has too...Now I get to be pissed about ths until a year from now when the next installment comes out...Oy...so frustrating.

So my friends end verdict...If you read "Hush, Hush," and liked it you will be both intrigued and frustrated deeply by this sequel...But, it's definately one of those books that once you fall into it it not going to let you go even after the last word is spoken on the very last page...I would recommend it to those who don't mind getting frustrated by the content and loved the first book...Also, for those who love book about angels both good and bad...Also, may I say that the sexiness in the book was hot for a ya novel...I mean she still kept it PG-13, but, compared to other YA books that I have read this one was pretty racy for the age group...I would absolutely love for Mrs. Fitxpatrick to come out with a paranormal romance adult book...Because if this is her PG-13, I would love to see rated R:) So happy I finshed the book and gave it another shot:) ...more

First, let me say I love the cover for this book. Hush, Hush and Crescendo have amazing covers. I don't know who does them, but I love them.
Anytime I read a sequel I always worry if the author can maintain the same spark they created in their first book. I am happy to report to you that Becca Fitzpatrick managed to do just that. I read Hush, Hush a few weeks ago and loved it. I was thrilled when I had the opportunity to read Crescendo. I enjoyed this book just as much, if not more, than Hush, H ...more

I liked it. I would have loved it, I am sure, had I reread Hush, Hush before diving into this one. But, alas, I did not. So I was confused about a few things that were referenced from the first book. A lot of facts about the nephilim and such. A word to those who have not read this yet. Reread Hush, Hush first. It will help immensely.

It was with great caution that I went in reading this novel because of the things I've heard about it. Most reviewer seemed to really dislike this novel and perhaps this opinion of it weighs into my opinion but I actually really enjoyed this sequel. Crescendo was a delightfully crafted read full of real emotions, the same lovable characters from the first novel and an interesting and twisting plot.

I was glad to be back with Patch, Nora and Vee in this second installment. I was okay where the fir It was with great caution that I went in reading this novel because of the things I've heard about it. Most reviewer seemed to really dislike this novel and perhaps this opinion of it weighs into my opinion but I actually really enjoyed this sequel. Crescendo was a delightfully crafted read full of real emotions, the same lovable characters from the first novel and an interesting and twisting plot.

I was glad to be back with Patch, Nora and Vee in this second installment. I was okay where the first novel left off but I was happy to be back with them to see where their journey would take them now. I must say that I was surprised with the results.

A lot of people seemed to have a problem with Nora and I get where they were coming from. They thought she was rash and whiny. And let's face it, she was but I understood a lot of her motivations and I'm not sure I'd have acted any differently. Patch gave her no reason to trust in him. If he'd have just denied what she accused him of a little bit, she'd have been placated. She was worried and insecure and sometimes it stinks to have heroines like that but I get it. She really liked Patch and worried he might not feel as intensely towards her as she did towards him. So she got a bit paranoid. And after, she got a bit reckless. Some of her decisions where stupid but I loved that Nora was bold. She punched Marcie in the face and she snuck into Scott's bedroom for answers all on her own. I really liked Nora growing into herself and answering her own questions. Yes, I wish she'd trusted in Patch a bit more but I understand why she didn't. And yes, I wish she'd swallowed her prideful anger but under the same circumstances, I can't say I would have. So I get it and I enjoyed Nora for her flawed humanness.

Patch was just as sexy as before. He has to be a little bad or he loses that pull. But I have to say, I was just as pissed as him as Nora was. I knew that he was trying to help her but that's because I'm the reader looking outside in but if I was Nora, I'd have been just as mad. I thought his absence in the novel was really interesting and I liked knowing he was working in the background. The ending killed me in the very best of ways.

So if I had a bestie, I'd want it to be Vee. Yeah, she can be a handful but the girl's got loyal tattooed to her forehead and she is not afraid to use it. I love that Vee was such a good friend to Nora and was willing to go along with Nora's crazy ideas. She's a great best friend and someone Nora really needed in this story. Plus, she's got good taste in guys. Irish equals sexy times ten!

I had a hard time figuring out where this story was leading to. I thought Marcie role in it all was really interesting and I love that Fitzpatrick gave her a bigger part to play. I also enjoyed how Fitzpatrick really messed with the lines Patch could and couldn't cross as a guardian angel. The first novel seemed to have solved a major problem and took away the obstacle of Patch and Nora being together. But this novel just showed us that it's even harder for them to be near each other. It worked well to keep that forbidden love sort of thing going on. I really enjoyed that.

I also thought that the book was written well. A lot of people had problems with it but at least it was a well written story. The sentences all did something and the characters actions felt real. I never once stumbled over a poorly crafted sentence and found myself really enjoying Nora's point of view, something I had a hard time doing in the first novel.

The addition of Scott gave the novel a really fascinating dynamic. Here's this character that was really pretty awful-- he has a drinking and gambling problem and he's an aggressive chickenshit (excuse my French) and yet, you still kind of like him because he's got these killer lines that Patch would have spoken had he been present. I'm interested to see where he's going to show up again in the third novel.

Over all, I really thought this novel had merit and it definitely held my attention. I enjoyed trying to follow the clues to figure out the plot and I liked the evolution of the characters I'd gotten to know so well in Hush Hush. I believe this is a strong second novel to an even stronger series. I can't wait for the next installment. Until then, consider me fallen. ...more

waaaaaay good. even more action than the first. although patch and nora have some relationship issues, their fights are fun to read. theyre both so stubborn. the cliff hanger at the end has me wanting more. cant wait to read a third.
