I recieved this book as a goodreads first reads giveaway.

I really enjoyed this book. I was worried that it wouldn't be able to live up to all the hype. They are already making a movie out of it, the author Pittacus Lore is giving crazy interviews to EW (http://shelf-life.ew.com/2010/07/16/an-out-there-interview-with-pittacus-lore-the-alien-author-of-i-am-number-four/ )and the press is already unbelievable and the book isn't even out yet. Very interesting book. I like the take on alien people coming to Earth to escape destruction on their planet and just trying to blend in here. It's a sci-fi book but doesn't feel completely sci-fi. It's definitely hard to put down and I found myself moving quickly through the pages to see what would happen next to John and Henri.

What I really enjoyed more than fight scenes or the alien story-line was simply the interactions between the characters, and John's high school life. I liked seeing how Very interesting book. It's definitely hard to put down and I found myself moving quickly through the pages to see what would happen next to John and Henri.

What I really enjoyed more than fight scenes or the alien story-line was simply the interactions between the characters, and John's high school life. I liked seeing how he fit in and how he fell for the girl. This is what made the story for me. The fight scenes are great and the suspense is wonderful, but the characters really sold me on this book.

John is just trying to fit in after moving again. His life has been a series of moves because he cannot be found. The three before him have been found and he is next. When John arrives at his new school he endures the normal fitting in problems and this is what I liked. I also liked Sara's character. She was once at the top of the high school food chain, but a summer away made her re-evaluate herself and she grew and became a different person and the person she is in the book. I find that fascinating. She was an interesting charater in her own right. Then there is Sam, he doesn't fit in and he doesn't try to, but he and John become friends and Sam really comes into his own in the book. As I said before, the characters make this book for me.

That said, the suspense is what keeps you reading. Will John be found? Will he get to stay with Sara? What is hunting him and how can he beat it? All of this gets answered in a very action-packed way. A great book for teen boys as well as girls. It's nice to see a good book out there for boys. There are so many for girls, and girls will surely enjoy this one as well, but with the action and suspense and sci-fi angle I think this will really draw boys as well as girls.

Hard to put down and great characters made this a winner for me. I am excited for the second book in the series and look forward to hopefully seeing more of John and his gang in that one.

The cover for this one is pretty cool. The orange and yellow are really attention getting. I like how it has the tagline, “THREE ARE DEAD.” above the title. It was what really caught my attention first. Then I saw all of the movie trailers and knew I had to check this book out. I haven’t seen the movie yet, but I am sure I will at some point.

Are aliens the new vampires? I hope not. Because aliens' have a whole new hotness and mystery to them. And I do hope that I am not influenced by the upcoming movie. But I have to admit, and hopefully will serve as a warning to fellow Alex Pettyfer fans out there, that I was initially distracted reading the book because I can't help but see Alex as John Smith. I think I should have read the book before the trailer came out. But nonetheless, the book was awesome.

After a series of events, Number Four and his guardian (or Cepan), Henri were lead to a small town in Paradise, Ohio where he assumes the identity of John Smith. He's feeling a bit weary of moving now and he hopes that they will stick longer in this place than they have in their previous places. Especially now that he begins to realize that he can build a life here - where he finds a friend, got interested in a girl, and thinks that maybe (and hopefully) they can keep things quiet here. But things will not go down as quiet as John would like. He is hunted and they will stop at nothing to bring his kind down - along with everyone else who will stood in their plans.

There are a lot of terms here that you have to be familiar with as you go along. Terms like legacies and cepan. They will be introduced early in the book so as not to get confused. As well as the initial back story of how number four and the rest of the Loriens came to Earth, who are hunting them, and why are we supposed to be concern in the battle.

I love the concept of the book as a true account of the Loriens. Citing alien theories and conspiracies, and even the author, Pittacus Lore is somehow a part of all this. The name is only a pseudonym of two authors collaborating for this book. One of which, is a bit controversial and the other a relatively unknown. But then again, plus points for the idea.

There is so much to write about this book but I'm afraid I might give to much away. Part of reading this book is the mystery, the adrenaline, and the pain you have to share with Number Four. The pain of losing so much in your life, sacrifices (to be) made, and in the end knowing that you are to fight and win not just for your survival but for the legacy of your kind.

I am not banging my head against the wall that I have to wait for the next book, The Power of Six. Because honestly, I think the break would give me time to recover from the events in this book. And believe me when I say the end would probably leave you needing a sort of emotional support like I did. ...more

I Am Number Four is a fast-paced book involving aliens and the world's impending doom. I would have to say that I definitely enjoyed this book. It was a fun read full of action and adventure, but I feel like it was written to be a movie especially since the movie was pretty much filmed before the book even came out. Nevertheless, if you like science fiction and aliens, then you will like this book. I did find it to be a bit predictable though. Everything that I thought would happen did.

First of all, I saw the movie before I read this book and I'm actually rather glad that I did it that way. While the movie was good in it's own right, there's just so much more that the book offers and I fell in love with this series because of it.
