I continue to enjoy this series. I can see why it has become so popular.
This second novel in the series was really very interesting. I am so looking forward to the next book to see what happens. There is a definite cliff hanger at the end.
It was interesting for me to find out that the Magister or Mortmain is actually the Clockwork Prince. Although, this might have been obvious.
Will becomes increasingly attractive. I like Jem but I am not a romantic fan of his. For me, Clare made his come off a ...more

I have given up on the audiobooks for this series...they ruin the start of the books for me. I have solidly decided that I prefer reading than listening to these books.

So - Book 2 provides more information to the questions raised in Book 1. That is good. It also brings up more questions - just makes you want book 3.

I am a huge fan of Cassandra Clare and absolutely fell in love with this series when I was lucky enough to get an ARC of Clockwork Angel. Needless to say, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this next installment in this trilogy, and I was not disappointed.

Tessa Gray has found a home with the Shadowhunters in Victorian London. They've taken her in at the Institute, but she soon finds her new life in jeopardy when members of the Clave want to replace Charlotte.

Unless Charlotte can find the Magist I am a huge fan of Cassandra Clare and absolutely fell in love with this series when I was lucky enough to get an ARC of Clockwork Angel. Needless to say, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this next installment in this trilogy, and I was not disappointed.

Unless Charlotte can find the Magister, it looks like they'll succeed. So with the help of Will and Jem, Tessa does what she can to bring Charlotte closer to finding the Magister. Along their journey Will discovers the truth about a secret from his past and Tessa finds her heart pulling toward Jem. The dangers of the clockwork army have only just begun, and they have to find a way to stop them before it's too late.

One of the things that really pulled me in to this prequel series was the fact that it was set in Victorian London. There's something about that time in history that I absolutely love, add the fact that there's Shadowhunters and warlocks and clockwork creatures and I'm all in. The setting alone was enough to really grab my interest.

Then I fell in love with the characters. Tessa Gray is a strong, beautiful girl in a time when women were viewed in a completely different light. Her power as a shapeshifter makes her unique in the downworld, and yet she's still a lady. Will Herondale is very much like our lovely Jace from The Mortal Instruments, only for quite some time he seemed almost unforgivable. It isn't until we learn why he acts the way he does that his flaws make sense. Jem Carstairs is truly a gem. Though he is sick, he is sweet and kind and protective. He is my favorite kind of Shadowhunter. Oh, oh, and Henry and Charlotte Branwell. So flipping adorable!

The search for the Magister and uncovering his plan is a long journey and one that I truly enjoyed throughout this book. There's so much to be uncovered, and being able to do it right along with the characters is half the fun.

My only thing is, and this might be a bit spoilery for anyone who hasn't read this yet(view spoiler) Or maybe it's wishful thinking.

Anyways, I absolutely recommend this book for anyone who loves fantasy and mystery and a little steampunk all rolled into one. Oh, and don't forget to checkout the next book in The Mortal Instruments series coming out in May, City of Lost Souls! ...more

I was a huge fan of the first three books in Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series but have to admit that she lost me with City of Fallen Angels as well as Clockwork Angel, the first in the Infernal Devices series. I didn't finish either book. I know hardcore Cassie fans will think I'm crazy but I just felt a loss for where my favorite writing and characters had gone. I decided the give things one more try with book two in the Infernal Devices. I can say wasn't disappointed with Clockwork Prince. The thing I love about Cassandra Clare is her rich descriptions, witty banter between characters and the inclusion of literary classics within her storyline. I finally felt like things are back to what I fell in love with in the first place. The steles are back, the feel of magic and loyalty, the rich world building. Clockwork Prince is set in Victorian London, a mix of steampunk and paranormal with several scenes of romance. I wouldn't pass this one on to a young teenager, which is my main complaint about CP. There are two very steamy scenes that have a more adult romance because of the detail. There is also mention of drugs, moderate violence and lots of innuendo. So if you are a parent, I'd give the series a read yourself before you pass it on to a teen.

Overall this is my favorite of the last three Cassie has published. It has peaked my interest in how the MI and ID series overlap as well as the family lines. Does anyone want to help me out here? Have you found the family links intertwining between the two series? I'm also curious to see how things shake out between Tess, Will and Jem. I get the feeling she loves both of them for very different reasons and is concerned of breaking up their brotherly love as parabati. I'm so glad our questions are finally answered about Will's walls. I loved every interaction he and Tessa have. We see a dept to Will never before shown. Jem, while kind and attentive is not in my mind the most appealing. Maybe she ends up not choosing either! Guess we will have to wait until book three to find out. Even at over 500 pages, I'm guessing most readers will devour all of Clockwork Prince in one sitting. The beautiful seamless writing of Cassie Clare is back! ...more

This book was a great sequel to Clockwork Angels. We learned a lot more background of being a shadowhunter specifically about having a parabatai. Will's past was revealed in this book and we learn why he is the way he is. This book had me flipping the pages to find out what happens next. The characters developed a great deal in this book, which I loved. The ending also left us with an interesting cliffhanger. I can't wait to find out what the last book of the series will entail. Clockwork Prince is sooo much better than Clockwork Angel and, while I find some of Clare's plotting formulaic, the angst situation she sets up is much more heartwrenching than Clary and Jace's in the first 3 TMI novels (though that one still wins for grossest). This was an excellent balance of action, angst, love, and intrigue with some interesting twists. I cannot wait to see how the trilogy ends! ...more
