I'm giving this a conflicted 4 stars. I loved the world building and the story but that ending...if you've read it, you know what I'm talking about and maybe even felt the same way.
I'm going to try not to give any spoilers and just say that I love when an author is true to their idea and doesn't worry too much about what readers will think of a plot twist. On the other hand, I saw this twist coming and just kept telling myself, no, she wouldn't do THAT!!! Oh yes, yes she did. If I'm reading the ...more

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was fast paced, and I had a really hard time putting it down. There were a LOT of plot twists and turns, and a few I was quite disappointed with. (Which I hope these are fixed in the next few books!) I loved Jace, Simon and Lukes characters. I'm still forming my opinion of Clary. Overall, it was a good read. I am looking forward to reading the next two books in the series. :)

Clare has the talent of making you trust a person completely and then turning the whole story around on you. It is amazing. She draws me in and then plucks at my heartstrings. It is a testament to how delightful this book is that I was on vacation in Boston and all I wanted to do was get back to the room so I could read. Jace is the quintessential bad boy with a past--how could you not love him? One of my favorite things about Clare's writing is she draws ...more

I didn't know what I would think of these books once I started them. I actually went in knowing little about them. I just saw good reviews for them and people anxiously awaiting the newest book so I decided I would get the first from the library and try the series out.
It's excellent. I loved the world building, it wasn't too much or too little. I loved learning about it as Clary learned about it. The characters were fascinating. I really liked Clary and enjoyed her wit and sarcasm and her realis ...more

The body has completely vanished and no on else but Clary seems to be able to see the two boys and the girl who attacked and killed the blue haired boy. How do you prove there was a murder when there's no body and no murderers? When Clary runs into one of the de

I liked this book, but was a little unhappy with the ending. And I beg to differ with people who call this book sexy. There wasn't enough of that to call it a "sexy thrill ride", but I enjoyed it none the less. I'm excited to see what happens next!
