Where to begin, that just tells you How Great Beautiful Darkness was. Usually sequels lack some of the spirit the 1st book in the series had. Well not Beautiful Darkness, it surpassed Beautiful Creatures. I believe that Kami and Margaret put a enchanting spell on us when reading the book. I get taken to Gatlin but while traveling thru tunnels, forest and even cemeteries. Such a amazing ride to be taken on. The suspense was on point, i remember even holding my breath at times while reading. The m Where to begin, that just tells you How Great Beautiful Darkness was. Such a amazing ride to be taken on. The suspense was on point, i remember even holding my breath at times while reading. The mystery was enough to make you think to yourself, don't do it. The romance is a so great, it makes your heart pitter patter. I honestly have nothing I would change about the book. The back stories were not to length when told and just long for you to get the feel for them. The characters are all wonderful even the bad ones, you need them if not we wouldn't have this Gem of a book.

The story starts off pretty much where the last book left us and we know how sad that was. We know have Ethan trying to come to a understanding of what has happened while Lena is trying to escape life. She is so ready to give up and poor Ethan is trying to help her. Ethan begins to have visions and a new song begins to play for him as well in his mind and all around. Ethan and Lena begin to loose their love and relationship. Ethan wont give up on her even after he meets Liv the new assistant to The Librarian Marianne. We discover new revelations that are so important for Ethan and Lena and can possibly save their love. Lena runs away with her cousin Ridley and new mysterious person named John. Ethan with the help from Liv and Link set off on a very bumpy ride to save and protect all those they have grown fond of and save Lena. I will tell you one of my favorite written character this book was Link, all those witty lines he had were the best. Lucille was also a great asset in Beautiful Darkness, who have thought the cat that use to get tied on the clothesline would come thru also.

If you haven't picked up this series yet, I strongly suggest you do. The Caster world will mesmerize you into believing!

I was super excited to read Beautiful Darkness. I have been waiting to read this book ever since I finished Beautiful Creatures, and it did not disappoint. From the moment I opened Beautiful Darkness and started reading, I was immersed in Ethan's world. Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl are absolutely amazing to have written this book. Their writing is absolutely intoxicating. I loved how Kami and Margaret set the scene for this book. The very first page brought back all of the love I had for Beaut I was super excited to read Beautiful Darkness. I have been waiting to read this book ever since I finished Beautiful Creatures, and it did not disappoint. From the moment I opened Beautiful Darkness and started reading, I was immersed in Ethan's world. Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl are absolutely amazing to have written this book. Their writing is absolutely intoxicating. I loved how Kami and Margaret set the scene for this book. The very first page brought back all of the love I had for Beautiful Creatures. I love their writing because it feels like I am right there in Gaitlin with Ethan, and I was excited to discover what happens.

I enjoy being in Ethan's head because most books I read are from a girl's point of view. It is nice to hear what the guy thinks once in a while, and Ethan definitely has a lot going on in his life. He discovers something new about himself, and he puts it to good use. I felt bad for Ethan in this book because Lena, his girlfriend and the love of his life, pushes him away throughout the book. For most of the book, he could not reach Lena like he used to.

There were many times throughout reading that Lena really annoyed me. I hated how much she was acting like a completely different person. I did not like how she treated Ethan especially when she ran off with another guy. She just seemed to ignore him and was letting herself drift away from him. She may have been doing it to protect him, but I still did not like it. I am not saying I hate Lena because I don't. I actually do like her most of the time. She was just in a difficult place in this book. She believes she killed her Uncle Macon, so she becomes emotionally broken causing her to push Ethan away even though he wants to help her.

I was surprised to see how much of a role Ethan's mother played in the story. It was interesting to see that she can still influence his life even though she is dead. I was also surprised to see Ridley practically changing sides. In Beautiful Creatures, she was all about making Ethan's life miserable, but now she actually ends up helping Ethan save Lena. A new character also joins Ethan's group of friends. Her name is Liv, and she is a Keeper-in-training. I enjoyed her personality and humor, so I hope she is in future books.

Beautiful Darkness is a must read (but read Beautiful Creatures first if you have not already). I liked it better than the first book if that is at all possible. It was addicting from the beginning to the end. I loved the mystery of the story and how unpredictable it was. It had me guessing and making up all kinds of crazy theories! I am looking forward to reading the next book in the Caster Chronicles. ...more

I would give this book 3.5 stars if I could. I had a harder time getting into this book than the first. It took me the first 100 pages to really get interested. I felt that the beginning didn't flow very well. I also had a hard time with Lena's reactions/actions after Macon's death.

I really enjoy the plot of the series. However, I think that the writing style of the authors is what causes me to not love these books.
