Compelling, at times disturbing, but ultimately rewarding, story of the destructive and indiscriminate horror of war and man's resulting inhumanity to man (and beast). How does a man become a soldier when his entire being rebels against killing; how does he hold on to compassion and empathy when surrounded by the madness of violence; and what price will he pay for both?
