Michael Pollan is a wonderful story-teller. I enjoyed what he said, but not as much as I enjoyed how he said it. The concept behind the book is both simple and brilliant: Pollan follows four meals from their origins to the dinner table. The first is a fast food meal (following corn), the second is purchased at Whole Foods (industrial organic), the third is from local agriculture (real organic), and the fourth is from hunting, gathering and foraging (think wild boar and local mushrooms). Still half-way through this book (since about this time last year). I was reading it during a low school point but, sadly, and typically of that time in my life, got too busy to finish. Excited to start again. Maybe this summer when fresh, local food is in particularly high supply.

I learned so much from this book about health and foos and our big aweful inefficient food system. I learned that its about vegetarianism or "health" food its about bucking the big ugly system and eating simple food from close by.
