4.5 stars because the situation is impossible and the story could've been deeply depressing. However, this is a story about resilience, forgiveness and recovery. It took the relationship between the characters to a deeper level. Loved it.

This one was disappointing. On their way home, Laura, Keir and Keir's war-force encounter a village that has been decimated by plague. The illness soon spreads through the warrior ranks and Laura, as the only real healer amongst them, has to figure out a way to combat it. It may sound good, but there wasn't much time for Laura and Keir to be together in all of this. It was very much the middle book of the series; not much resolved, lots of new problems introduced, and not too many really memorab
