If I had to say which boy this book revolved around, it would have to be Silas. It was interesting to see more of his background, especially because it definitely complicated the plot. That being said, this book revolved around three things—Sang’s growing attraction for all of the boys, the homecoming dance that may be the target of a bomb threat, and Silas’ past and family catching up with them and threatening to pull him under. That being said, this book revolved around three things—Sang’s growing attraction for all of the boys, the homecoming dance that may be the target of a bomb threat, and Silas’ past and family catching up with them and threatening to pull him under. That being said, like all of the Academy books so far, this book was absolutely interesting and engaging. It would appear as though C.L. Stone is nowhere near losing her momentum as she blasts through these books—interested of things getting boring, they are constantly getting more interesting, which is a hard thing to achieve with 7.5 books in the series so far. And one more thing that I would like to mention—the way the Stone incorporates characters from the companion series, The Scarab Beetle Series, is absolutely flawless! It is just enough to where, if you’ve read the other series up to date, that you catch it and it is interesting and amusing, but at the same time, it doesn’t spoil anything for either series. So far, Wil, Marc, Corey, Kevin, and Axel have made an appearance in The Ghost Bird Series. It is really well done.

Besides the heart pounding plot, there is still the tension with the romance. By the end of this book, Sang has kissed four of the nine boys, and it is fun to try to guess who is next. At first I thought that the idea of reverse polygamy would be kind of creepy, but Stone does it immensely well. The suspense is killing me with what will happen with Sang and the boys, romance-wise.

House of Korba was in interesting installment in that we got the history of one of the most mysterious of the boys—I hope that this trend will continue with a book dedicated to the pasts of one of the boys. So far, we have had Nathan, Silas, and Victor—getting to know the boys just makes them the much more real, and the book that much more believable.
