Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1) in Q&A with Cassandra Clare

My response after finishing The Clockwork Angel: "What the, nooo!" Wow, I'm not really sure I have any words to say after finishing this wonderful book. The fact that I decided to read the this before The Mortal Instruments series might have made me confused in the beginning, but after reading the book, I began to feel as if this series is truly connected to its decessor. I'm not going to be biased and say that this series is better than Cassandra Clare's first series since I haven't read it yet My response after finishing The Clockwork Angel: "What the, nooo!" Wow, I'm not really sure I have any words to say after finishing this wonderful book. The fact that I decided to read the this before The Mortal Instruments series might have made me confused in the beginning, but after reading the book, I began to feel as if this series is truly connected to its decessor. I'm not going to be biased and say that this series is better than Cassandra Clare's first series since I haven't read it yet, meaning there is nothing for me to compare. But I think overall, this book was truly good. It was exciting, mysterious, and rather shocking when the true villain was revealed. I also sense a love triangle so I'm looking forward to that and Will's secret!

I admit that the beginning of the book was a tad bit boring and slow. But soon, the plot picks up right after Tessa gets rescued by Will from the Dark Sisters and readers get a sense of what the plot behind this book is all about. Tessa is an essential asset to something, but it has something to do with her shape-shifting powers and that the Magister wants to possess her. Throughout the entire book, Tessa begins to question her heritage and why exactly she is the way she is. There is no answer for that yet, but hopefully in the next upcoming books, there will be. As for the other characters, I did mention that I find Will Herondale to be an interesting character. I'm pretty sure that Will will become Tessa's love interest, but also Jem as well. Although something tragic must have happened to him in the past... which is why he often tries to build up a wall between himself and Tessa. Jem will also probably be an important character later on in the books because in my opinion, he is the nicer counterpart of Will. And last but not least, the villains. I never would have guessed but I always sensed that it was much more than that and I guess I was right.

Overall, this was truly a great start to The Infernal Devices series and I'm anticipating for the next book, The Clockwork Prince. The ending of the book was a cliff-hanger so I can't wait to see what will happen next! ...more

I'm at odds with this book - do I like it,or not? i won't say that I hate it because it was entertaining but it left me realing and maybe that's the problem. It's one thing to have a major cliff hanger (i.e. Catching Fire) at the very end but to hint at so many answers then fall short right at the very end and still have all the questions unaswered??? This was the start of another fantastic series by Cassandra Clare. It's the prequel to The Mortal Instruments series, which I really loved. The best part about this book was that no matter where I was, I could pick up this book and instantly get lost in it. It was nearly impossible to put down, and I felt so attatched to the characters as I was reading it. There was not a moment I felt was slow or boring. It just kept going. I love Clare's fantasy world of Shadow Hunters and Downworlders (you'll This was the start of another fantastic series by Cassandra Clare. The fantasy is so rich and detailed and I really enjoy reading about it in TMI, and again in this new series. It's so facinating I just couldn't stop reading!

People are going to and already have been comparing Clockwork Angel to TMI series. I'll admit, once I finish the book and think about it again, I realize there are a lot of similaries, but it didn't bother me at all while I was reading it. A lot of the characters easily match up to having similar personality descriptions to those of Clare's previous series, but they were in a different setting, so I think it was different enough. I actually found I liked Tessa a lot more than Clary, she's a bit tougher, and there were things about Clary I disliked, though I can't give them away unless you've read that series first.

Will and Jem were both amazing guy characters. They were very, very different, but still good friends. Tessa's relationship with each of them was different, but I enjoyed hearing about both of them. I don't even know which one I would rather Tessa be with. I can't wait to find out more about them later in the series!

I would recommend you read the City of Bones series before reading Clockwork Angel, but it's not required. You could read The Infernal Devices without any prior knowledge of TMI and it might be a completely different experience than I had, but it would still be just as good. I was surprised that it took me two weeks to get through this book because it was so good, just it was long and I read a couple other short books in between. Looking back it amazes me why I ever put this book down even for a second! I loved it, and I will continue to read anything Cassandra Clare writes because she's an amazing writer! ...more

J'ai encore une fois beaucoup aimé l'univers créer par Cassandra Clare, bien que je trouve que ce tome ressemble énormément au premier tome de son autre trilogie; on a un peu l'impression qu'on reprend les même et on recommence, sauf qu'ici, on se trouve au 19è siècle; mais j'ai quand même beaucoup apprécié lire ce roman; et j'ai aussi trouvé le personnage de Will beaucoup plus intéressant que son alter ego de la première trilogie, Jace; will est plus mystérieux et sombre, il est aussi l'archéty ...more

I was a bit hesitant to read this one because I loved the Mortal Instruments series so much and I knew this one would be different. But once I got started, I couldn't put it down and I read the whole thing in two days. I liked it better than any of the Mortal Instruments books. The story felt richer and more put together and while some elements were predictable, it was still a great read. It will be a painful year waiting on the next installment. ...more

this book was amazing i loved everything about it!!! everything that tessa had to go thru to get her brother .. and for everything to end in such a way .. i love will!! everything about him says jace , guess it runs in the family lol!! i loved how the name lightwoods came and how another story with mangus bane came to be .. and how church came into the story =] loved it! cant wait for the next one =]cassandra clare knows how to write her stories xD

I really enjoyed this book and can not wait to read the other books in the series. It did take me a couple of chapters to get into but once I got past the slow start I loved it. It isnt as good as the mortal instrument series, Im not sure if its the characters or the story but I would still recommend everyone who loved the mortal instrusment series to read it =D
