I am so glad I checked out what my friends thought of this book before picking it up. Among their four and five star reviews I found the line, "it is really slow to start". And it is. Very. slow. to. start.
The Raven Boys is character driven and Stiefvater takes her time setting them up. The plot doesn't kick into gear until page 100 or so, and even then it rarely does more than amble along.

I throughly enjoyed this story (thank god because initially I accidentally bought the 4th book instead of the first book so now I have to finish the series) it's been a while since I read the book at the time I am writing this review but I keep thinking about this story and I can't wait to dive into the next book in the series, I found the storyline intriguing and exciting and I grew to really care about the characters which is always a good sign.
