First read Feb14/12 to Feb18/12. Library edition.

I had really been looking forward to reading this book. I have read nothing but good reviews and the premise of the book sounded compelling. Plus I heard the book compared to The Hunger Games, which should have made me wary, but actually made me want to read it more. I need to learn to ignore the hype. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in the book.

Why did I wait so long to read this YA novel? Maybe I was overwhelmed by all the YA dystopian literature that has bombarded the bookscene after the success of The Hunger Games? Maybe I was afraid it would be just one more YA novel that was too simple to be truly enjoyable? I'm not sure what my reasons for waiting were...but I am glad that I finally read Divergent. Wow! This book is amazing! The society she wrote about is really interesting! The main characters are very complex and likable.

Aw, this is really hard for me to review...
I find that when most reviews rant and rave about the book, the less excited I get about reading it. With the upcoming Hunger Games movie though, I wanted to read something in similar line (ie. dystopia). I liked it but I don't love it - that makes me sad :(
I liked Roth's descriptive ways (I don't have the book in front of me now but when I do, I'll update this review with a quote). And I really liked the suspense involved for the Aptitude test, in find ...more
