Since reading The The Fionavar Tapestry back in college, Guy Gavriel Kay has been a favorite author of mine. Tigana was written next, so it uses the same bardic language to spin the story. Some may find Kay's writing slightly on the dramatic side, but I see his books as tapestries - the story isn't always linear, and there are dashes of attention-grabbing color interspersed - but I could stare at it for hours in front of a fire with a glass of whisky, happy to be sucked into the tale.

One thing that drove me crazy while reading this book was the author's overuse of the word: SHAPE. I found a program online and used it to count the occurrences:
shape: 62 occurrences
shaped: 20 occurrences
shaping: 14 occurrences
Making 96 occurrences of the conjugated "shape" in one novel. Grrrr.
