Not particularly thrilling, as I can see now that it isn't an action-packed and fast-paced story as marketed. However, it dealt with the elusive nature of rape cases (i.e. why it's such an elusive topic, the underlying patriarchal force that's twisted societies from the inside out). I see this as a literary clap back to Brock Turner the rapist and a great fictional addition on the topic as a companion to Chanel Miller's superb memoir Know My Name.

This was a reasonably good read, but not a stand out. The rape culture stuff seemed pretty basic, the sort of thing that might have been insightful 10 years ago. The mystery was also resolved far too conveniently, through some lucky coincidences that ruined the storyline. It had some promise though and I would be willing to read more of this author's work.
